AT&T Documentary Highlights the Dangers of Texting While Driving

I’ve talked a lot about the benefits that social media and technology have had on the world and people’s jobs. But a friend recently shared this video with me, and it reminded me that technology can also have some very bad effects. In the video, a Missouri state trooper visits the site of an accident where a young girl had a fatal car accident because she was texting while driving. The documentary, made by AT&T, tells the story of several young people who had similar accidents, and comes back to the state trooper as well. He talks about how this accident affects him, and it reminds us that we should be careful when driving and using technology (texting, calling, GPS, etc.).  I know I’ve certainly not been able to look at my phone while driving since I’ve seen it.

  1. What a heartbreaking documentary. Aside from phones and text messaging, I get a bit uneasy as cars become more automated and personalized–if people are interacting with their dashboards, they’re not looking at the road. Definitely a “con” where that’s concerned. Thanks for sharing!
